About Kathleen Fox
My love and concern for all animals goes back as far as I can remember: my first dog was a black Labrador Retriever named Julius from a local breeder. Julius was my loyal buddy while I was growing up, and with many loving memories of my dog, he was the origin of my passion for all animals.
Upon reaching adulthood, one no longer seemed enough: this time I wanted to invite a few more furry friends to my family. My first trio of dogs were all Shih Tzus: Ted, Tascha and Jasper. They were all wonderful buddies and lived long, happy, healthy lives. As a lifelong animal lover, I still keep a family of pets: Gizmo, a Papillon-Pomeranian mix, Emma, a Jack Russell-Pug mix, Daisy, an American Cocker Spaniel (who in recent years crossed over the rainbow bridge) as well as a Lionhead mix rabbit named Crystal. Many of my pets have been rescues, as I firmly believe the abandoned deserve a good home.
The idea for my pet care business first began to emerge after I took a Pet First Aid course with St. John’s Ambulance in 2010. In combination with my daily walks with my dogs through the Cabbagetown neighbourhood streets, I was inspired to help other working individuals with the care of their pets. And finally in 2011, after a long business career, I decided it was time to make a change and pursue my enduring passions by starting my pet care business. I furthered my knowledge with ‘Professional Pet Care 101’ certification through Dog Guru, and ‘Pet Professional’ training course through Whatta Pup in 2012, recognized professionals in the Toronto pet care industry. I attended a workshop by Sam Malatesta ‘Who’s the Dog’ training method sponsored by Toronto Humane Society in 2012. I re-certified in Pet First Aid through Dog Guru in February 2012 and then again with St. John’s Ambulance in 2017. I’ve also attended many workshops and courses over the years to keep my knowledge current with pet care, such examples: ‘Who’s Walking Who’ – Total Recall, Toronto Humane Society – Senior Dog and Separation Anxiety workshops, just to name a few. I was also a volunteer dog walker in Toronto for a pet organization, before pursuing my passion to be a pet care professional.
Having had many pets of my own, I understand trust and communication are fundamental to a service like this. I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you and discuss your buddies!
